We contacted Le Thanh Loi – a Logistics and SCM student of course 25 at Van lang University when he just finished an online exam. Loi was joyful when he knew that he was among the top 16 of the Slog Challenges. He said: “This result is much more than I could ask for. I participated in the contest to learn from the experience, so I did not think I could advance this far. This activity should help me to practice what I have learned and study from the Mentor’s practical lessons.”

As a professional and highly invested contest, the Slog Challenge appeared on various social networks and news channels for the young such as the Ybox. It gained considerable outreach to the student community. Impressed by the contest, Cao Dang Phuc – a Junior BA student at RMIT, said: “I decided to compete once I learned about Slog Challenge on a social network. I was amazed by the contest’s deep focus on the field despite its first run. The topics were practical and career-oriented. I believe the competition will be an opportunity to transfer knowledge into practical experience and enrich my CV.”

Each Slog Challenge’s contestant had their own reason for participating. Nguyen Dan Thi – Foreign Trade University, enthusiastically said: “For me, the student life is the most beautiful time, when I can try, make mistakes and redo, so I participate without hesitations. Each contest should provide you with particular values, so why don’t you try? By overcoming ourselves, we could acquire more knowledge and experience to refine ourselves.”

As a contestant from Vietnam National University – HCMC Campus, Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Hoai commented: “All the contestants making to this round are excellent, so I must put more effort to study in-depth knowledge to prepare for fiercer battles ahead.”

Once the contestants completed the multiple-choice questions round, essay writing, and case study discussion, there would be 16 contestants moving on to the finals and divided into four teams. Each team should be consulted by experienced mentors from enterprises, such as Ms. Dinh Nu Huong Tra – Production Planner – Columbia Sportswear Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mi – Procurement & ICO – Bosch Vietnam, Ms. Le Thi Phuong – Demand Planning & Inventory Management – DKSH Vietnam and Mr. Vu Hai Duong – Marketing and Sales Operation Planner – Unilever. Within two months, the four teams will attend three workshops to be coached and prepare for the Finals.

Most students commented about the quality of the top 16 contestants: Slog Challenge was a fair and square competition for contestants of any discipline. The team members must enrich their knowledge, learn from their Mentor, and eradicate their weaknesses to help the team achieve the best performance.

The two-month period for coaching was suitable for the contestants to improve their capabilities. “I hope the pandemic will soon be under control so that we can attend a fabulous and memorable final night to extend the field network among students and enterprises.” – said Nguyen Van Nam – National Economics University (Hanoi.)
