Graduation thesis in PR at Van Lang University 2021: exploiting a variety of topics in the context of the pandemic

(VLU, 09/07/2021) - From July 5 to 6, 2021, the Faculty of Public Relations & Communication of Van Lang University organized the defense of the graduation thesis for 12 students of the 23rd course of PR. The thesis defense session was held online on MS Teams, still ensuring the presentation quality of the dissertations and the debate atmosphere of the defense session.

Completing the Graduation Thesis is a proud achievement for students with excellent academic results. This year, there are 12 topics for consideration and defense, divided into 3 councils.

Van Lang University's graduation thesis defense programs in 2021 all took place in the context of complicated epidemics and most of them moved to online form. The Council commented that the research topics are highly practical, focusing on research on the impact of communication on user behavior and perception; building communication plans, communication solutions for business brands, tourism culture, F&B industry, enrollment activities, etc in the context of society affected by the epidemic and social distance.

Student Le Nam Vuong's topic is highly topical and has practical contributions to media agencies. MSc. Nguyen Hoang Lan, teacher reviewer of the topic commented: "Choosing to survey 3 official newspaper pages Youth, Vnexpress, Vietnamnet on Tiktok social network is quite a big risk because in the minds of users, Tiktok is a platform only used for entertainment and very few people think to go to Tiktok to read mainstream newspapers. But in the end, Nam Vuong solved the problems quite well."

Nam Vuong said: “The process of doing my research encountered many problems that made me intend to defend my thesis next year. I am very grateful to the instructor for encouraging and supporting me to finally complete my thesis."

Talking about the reason for choosing the topic, student Tran Khanh An expressed her desire to sketch the process of VLU becoming one of the leading educational corporations in training Public Relations. Khanh An sketched the whole picture of education branding activities to get into the reality of the brand story of the Public Relations major of Van Lang University. Khanh An's topic was awarded by MSc. Nguyen Do Doan Hanh - Critical teacher commented that it is a good topic in building a brand for a private educational institution, serving enrollment activities.

vlu khoa luan pr cThesis "Factors affecting the intention to choose Pasal English Communication Center under the franchise of SAM Company of customers in Ho Chi Minh City" by student Vo Duong Thao Chau, 23rd class majoring in Public Relations.

The topic of student Vo Duong Thao Chau is considered to be quite voluminous and elaborate with 113 pages, detailing the illustrative table and data system. The thesis has a high urgency for English Centers in the context of integration, the increasing demand for foreign language learning, has useful reference value with research on customer choice behavior.

Besides, the Council also highly commended the topic "The influence of online reviews on social networking platforms Facebook and Youtube on the decision to go to a cafe of Generation Z in Ho Chi Minh City" (Dinh Hong Tram). This is an interdisciplinary topic in marketing and communication, showing the students' ability to self-study and learn from foreign research articles. Hong Tram is encouraged by the lecturers to continue her studies and practice her research skills, and has some suggestions on renaming the topic more accurately.
