Van Lang University’s Tourism student explored 63 provinces in “Vietnam-On-The-Go”

(VLU, 15/6/2021To help students to enhance the knowledge in Tourism, social life, and ease the anxiety and stress from the final exams, Van Lang University’s Faculty of Tourism had successfully organized the Online Contest “Vietnam-On-The-Go” on 15 and 16 June 2021.

“Vietnam-On-The-Go” was organized to provide VLU’s Tourism students to learn the tourist attractions in Vietnam, and raise awareness for protecting themselves amidst the Covid-19 outbreak. This activity was a place for students to connect and interact during the social distancing period caused by Covid-19 pandemic.

Participating in “Vietnam-On-The-Go”, the students from majors in Hospitality Management, Tourism and Leisure Service Management, Restaurant and F&B Service Management should do an online multiple-choice test within the sessions’ duration. Each session had different questions. The registration link was posted on Van Lang Tourism MHz’s fanpage. Participants would only need to pick a time and do a single test.

  • Session 1: 10am - 12am on 15 and 16 June 2021
  • Session 2: 07pm - 09pm on 15 and 16 June 2021

Each test paper consisted of 45 questions on various matters related to tourism and Covid-19 pandemic. First three students to complete the tests with highest score would receive the following prizes:

  • First prize: 500,000 VND + certificate of recognition + 1 medal
  • Second prize: 400,000 VND + certificate of recognition + 1 medal
  • Third prize: 300,000 VND + certificate of recognition + 1 medal

In addition, contestants who scored at least 20/45 points in either session also received bonus good-conduct points for that academic year according to the article 1.5.

Before the first competing day, the Faculty of Tourism’s fan page also introduced several famous tourist attractions in Vietnam such as: Hung Kings temple. Ben Hai river - Hien Luong bridge, My Son sanctuary, Son Doong cave and Huong river. Studying the history and culture would not only help the students to enrich their knowledge of Vietnam’s sightseeing attractions, but also promote the love for the motherland.

Nguyen Hong An - Tourism student of Course 25 commented about her participation: “It took me 30 minutes to complete this test. The test covers a diversity of topics such as geography, culture, tourist attraction, Covid-19 pandemic, which provide handy knowledge for the students.

Within two competing days, there were hundreds of participants, and the most excellent students were defined. Nguyen Thuy Phuong Anh (K24D-KS8) won the first prize, Nguyen Kha ANh Tu (K26D-LH2) and Bui Hai Yen (K24D-KS3) won the second and third prize respectively.

Although the university was still closed under the heavy impacts of Covid-19 pandemic, Van Lang University never ceased to introduce wonderful activities for the students. Recently, VLU’s faculties, clubs and unions had organized many meaningful online contests to help students solidify their knowledge and relieve the stress of the final exams.
