Students majoring in Oriental studies participated in cultural exchanges at Hangeul Festival 2020

(VLU, October 13, 2020) - On 9th and 10th of October, 2020, more than 40 students and lecturers of Oriental Studies - majoring in Korean studies joined with Korean language training colleges and universities in the Southern region to participate in Hangeul Festival 2020. 

Hangeul Festival 2020 was held to celebrate the 574th anniversary of the invention of Korean characters (Hangeul) by The University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City and the Korea Foundation for International Exchange (Korea Foundation). This festival was organized annually in the middle of September or October. This year, the theme of festival is “Our Korean - the great language of the world”.

This is the third time Korean studies students and lecturers of Van Lang University participated in festival. The festival program 2021 included: Designing festival dress, making short clips to introduce school with Korean sub, building and decorating camp, Small Quiz on Hangeul, Small sport festival, Random Dance, K-star singing performance.

In Festival, lecturers and students of Oriental studies from Van Lang University joined some activities: making short clips with Korean sub, building and decorating camp, small quiz on Hangeul, Small sport festival.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong - Deputy Head of Department of Oriental Studies (Korean Studies major) - Faculty of Society and Humanity of Van Lang University shared Hangeul Festival was a big playground for students majoring Korean studies from all Southern universities to join and expand their network. Hence, all of Van Lang’s students in this major excitedly join this festival. It was a big opportunity to go networking and to learn for those students.


THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE KOREAN STUDIES CLUB

With the purpose of becoming a meeting place for all students in the Van Lang University with the same passion for learning Korean culture, The Korean Studies Club from The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities was officially established. The inaugural ceremony took place in the evening of October 13th, 2021, at room A8.01, in main Campus of Van Lang University.

In the opening day of the club, there were more than 100 students from different Faculties of the University presented many K-pop performances.The logo of the club is a harmonious interference between two tones of pink and grey. The pink on the logo represents for loyal and passionate love, and the grey represents for practical trust. The word “한글” is tiger – the mascot of Korea which symbolizes for strength, purity, and is a representative of the warrior rank. The background is  the national flower of the land of Kimchi – Mugunghwa.

If you love Korea and its culture, please come to join the Korean Studies Club to learn and experience all the interesting things about this beautiful nation. The Club will annually organize many academic activities for members to bond and study mutually.
