Innovations in the Citizenship Week of the academic year 2020–2021 for Van Lang students

(VLUSeptember 11, 2020)In order to equip students with information and knowledge necessary to prepare for the new school year 2020-2021, from September 4 to 29, 2020, Van Lang University organizes a civic education program, beginning, middle and final course for students. This year, the Citizen - Student Week is organized under two forms online and offline.

Citizenship week is an annual activity, compulsory for students of Van Lang University at the beginning of each academic year. Citizen Activity Week of the 2020-2021 academic year of the faculties and courses were organized with many innovations in form and content. Participating in civic events, students are equipped with necessary information such as basic information on legal policies, current economic - political - social events in Vietnam and internationally; civic responsibility, training rules, regulations, training plan for the new school year,... Students each course will participate in the Week of Citizenship - Students of the academic year 2020-2021 with the following 3 contents:
(1) Thematic activities with contents requested by the Ministry of Education and Training and the School;
(2) Conversation between students with the Rectorate Board and Dean of Faculties, Functioning Department;
(3) Activities, training orientation, careers and skills with the Faculty Dean

Improved organizational form: convenient student living from afar

Along with the form of direct activities to disseminate the contents according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, this year, Van Lang University alternately organizes a number of topics in the form of online on two channels, ensuring all students convenient for participation: live streaming and self-study online. In particular, the program Livestream on fanpage Student Support Center - Van Lang University has topics such as: "Recruitment secret", "Talent leader", "Youth 4.0 - the difference in yourself ", " Finish university, what to do next?", "Van Lang Culture" with some topics on exchange and training skills and attitudes for students. With the livestream sessions, students can meet many speakers who are psychologists, businessmen, inspirators, and alumni of Van Lang University such as: PhD. Psychology To Nhi A, MSc. Along with the livestream mode, students self-study the topics on the University's Elearning page. The content of online self-study revolves around issues such as: prevention of disease Covid-19, student role model VLU, behavioral culture at VLU; Laws, legal normative documents, and content of activities of Van Lang University.

Dialogue, understanding, support, companionship

One of the typical activities of the Student-Citizen Week of Van Lang University is direct dialogue with the Rectorate Board. Here, students can express their wishes, questions and contributions about facilities, quality of training, student care... to help the University better understand learning activities and living of students, thereby giving the necessary and timely support. On the other hand, the Rectorate Board can share about the general situation of the new school year, helping students to understand, sympathize and accompany the policies of the University.

This year, at the dialogues with the Rectorate Board, many students boldly asked questions and gave their comments received by the Principal and the Board of Directors, typically: starting from the day September 10, 2020, the Library will be open from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm to serve students, consider implementing audition classes to facilitate students to supplement knowledge,... Besides, to support better for students, the university also informed that there was a plan to establish an intensive language training environment to serve students, training staff to consider skills in handling situations if there were sudden problems, export occurred in the examination room,...

Facing the questions of students, the Rectorate Board and the Dean have tried to solve immediately and have satisfactory answers for students.
