(Van Lang, July 02, 2020) - On the morning of June 29, 2020, at the Hall on the 10th floor, Campus 1 of Van Lang University, the international workshop on the topic “An overview of academic research for publication on international journals” organized by the Faculty of Law, was opened in the exciting atmosphere, with the participation of all lecturers, staff and students from the Faculty of Law.
The workshop welcomed the attendances of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Thuy - Dean of Faculty of Law, MSc. Lecturer Nguyen Huu Binh, Deputy Dean of Law Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Quang Thinh, Head of Administrative – Constitutional Law, MSc. Lecturer Nguyen Thi Yen - Deputy Head of the Department of International Law, MSc. Tran Minh Toan - Deputy Head of Civil and Commercial Law, together with lecturers, staff and more than 100 students from Van Lang University’s Faculty of Law.
In his opening speech at the Workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Thuy - Dean of Faculty of Law stated an overview of the content, purpose and meaning that the workshop brought to students and lecturers of the Faculty in scientific research, especially scientific research activities according to international standards.

MSc. Jennifer Baylon Verances - Lecturer of Technical University of Cebu (Philippines) was invited to make the main presentation at the workshop. More than 100 students with outstanding extracurricular activity participation and academic achievements were very excited to take part in the International Scientific Research Conference.
The workshop aims to clarify how to write a scientific paper that meets the requirements of an international scientific journal according to ISI standards in the field of jurisprudence. MSc. Jennifer Baylon Verances, who had a great deal of valuable experience in writing international scientific papers shared the topic with an enthusiastic and impressive style, provided a lot of information related to researching, writing and publishing international scientific papers.

Quoting Wernher Von Braun's famous quote: “Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing”, Speaker Jennifer mentioned the difficulties that researchers often encounters when starting conducting scientific research, thereby sharing how to maintain enthusiasm in the research process is at first to choose a research content that you like and are passionate about. Next, it’s patience, curiosity and creativity that are indispensable factors for pursuing scientific research to the end.
MSc. Jennifer Baylon Verances specifically analyzed approaches, determined the scope of the research, how to name international scientific research topics, how to search, select, analyze the data system for the research, how to quote and publish an international scientific paper.
The students and lecturers of the Faculty of Law exchanged and raised interesting questions about Vietnam's opportunities and challenges in accessing international research, publishing papers in prestigious international journals.
After 4 hours of working, the workshop achieved the set goals and succeeded beyond all expectations. Students are now more familiar with scientific research. Every year, Van Lang University often organizes research registrations for students of the whole university. Students are free to register in subject areas related to their own majors. Not only do students earn bonus points, if they have a topic that is accepted at the school level, but they also have an opportunity to compete with other countries in international contests.
