Van Lang’s unique art exhibition at the Vietnam – Italy Higher Education Forum 2019

(Van Lang, October 12th 2019) – In addition to large-scale events, research papers and prestigious educational products exhibited at the 2nd Vietnam – Italy Higher Education Forum 2019, Van Lang University organized 4 exhibition areas for Architecture, Industrial Arts, Environment & Biotechnology and 3D Arts at Campus 3 in honor of the first major educational event ever held in Van Lang University.

Launching such an artistic exhibition required a lot of enthusiasm and dedication of the lecturers and students from 03 faculties of Architecture, Industrial Arts, and Environment & Biotechnology, the Tahta Workshop (led by a VLU’s alumni) and UTS Vietnam Talent International School – a member of Van Lang Educational Complex.

The exhibition was drawn mainly from paper and Mr. Shigeru Ban’s achievements.

The exhibition displayed models of ancient architectural works, which was a project in the subject of History of Vietnam Architecture and Architectural Structure, run by students (from the first-year to the final-year) of Architecture Faculty at Van Lang University. In general, the work was consistent with the theme of heritage and carried the message of environmental conservation.

Mr. Mai Quoc Buu, a lecturer of Architecture Faculty, was in charge of this project, and he built up such an impressive space of public display after 3 days working with workers and students.

vlu art exhibition at the VietnamItaly Higher Education Forum eAfter the exhibition, 4.000 carton paper tubes were dismantled, of which 2.500 tubes were completely reusable. By effectuating quick and efficient construction and utilizing materials for recycling, the exhibition emphasized the spirit of Shigeru Ban. Hopefully this spirit will be transmitted to domestic and foreign guests visiting the exhibition, and especially to students of the Faculty of Architecture of VLU– potential generation of architects of Vietnam.


Exhibition of Faculty of
Environment & Biotechnology

The project of Faculty of Environment & Biotechnology displayed in October 6th and 7th, demonstrating chemical products such as cinnamon essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, frankincense essential oil, soap with essential oil,... were the cherished result of research topics and practical activities of students from the Faculty of Environment & Biotechnology.

These exhibited products attracted a large number of students to visit and learn more about the materials, method, process and application.

The display of Faculty of Industrial Arts's products

Performing “ART” as the highlight theme, staff from the Faculty of Industrial Arts at VLU created a unique space called “Faculty of Design” in order to showcase the creative products of students from 4 majors: Product Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, and Graphic Design.

Displaying Industrial Art Projects becomes a typical event which is regularly taken place by all of the students and lecturers from the Faculty of Industrial Arts. This is a golden opportunity for students to introduce to the public the art products that can be used in daily basis, which proved their continuous effort in the learning process.

Thanks to the guidance of Design Manager, Mr. Le Long Vinh - Head of the Interior Design, the displayed area of the Faculty of Industry Arts was arranged harmoniously and impressively in a small space with the representation of 4 majors (Product Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design).

3D painting exhibition and interacting with UTS students

With the companion of Tran Thi Thanh Tam - alumni of 16th course in VLU Graphic Design, known as the leader of Tahta Workshop, Van Lang University organized an exhibition area for creative painting fish art in 3D. The members of Tahta Workshop team had created 3 “Tam Toan” paintings as gifts for Dr. Pham Quang Hung - Director of International Cooperation Department (Ministry of Education and Training), Mr. Antonio Alessandro - Italian Ambassador in Vietnam, and Mr. Dante Brandi - Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City.

As part of the events to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam - Italy Diplomatic Relations, on the morning of October 7, students of UTS Vietnam Talent International School – a member of Van Lang Educational Complex - had an interaction with the guests and sent them unique gifts which were 3D paintings hand painted by themselves. UTS students from grade 4 had learned to draw Japanese 3D fish paintings under the guide of Tahta Workshop.

VLU’s leaders presented three 3D fish paintings with the theme of “TAM TOAN” to the distinguished guests of Vietnam – Italy Higher Education Forum as a wish for the sustainable, strong, and long-lasting development of Vietnam - Italy friendship.

Designated light blue as the primary tone with the gentle lines, the painting represents the purity of a new born flotation. Ideas are taken from the early images of Van Lang University during the formation period.

vlu art exhibition at the VietnamItaly Higher Education Forum mThe second painting was sincerely presented to Dr. Pham Quang Hung - Director of International Cooperation Department (Ministry of Education and Training).Title: GIAO THỜI (TRANSITION), size: 40x40x5 (cm). The second painting has the combination of the light blue tone in the first picture and the strength in the third one (named BREAKTHROUGH). At the first glance, the picture is the transition expressing the blend of nuances and describing the preparation for the development stage as well as the image of Van Lang's infrastructure that has gradually been firmly completed and put into operation.

Title: ĐỘT PHÁ (BREAKTHROUGH), size: 40x40x5 (cm). This is the 3rd picture of “Tam Toan” set, owning a different color tone from the 2 previous pictures. Expressing the transformation after the integration period, the picture illustrates the brilliance and the vigorous, creative and whole-heart development. The third picture consists of a green-tone part of the early days, two blue-tone parts of the transition and three parts of a breakthrough.
