Van Lang University's SLOG Challenge has found the winner of the first season in 2021

(VLU, 03/01/2022) - On December 22, 2021, "SLOG Challenge Finals 2021" was held on the Google Meet platform, and Livestream on Fanpage SLOG Challenge attracted the attention of a large number of students with passion and desire to develop the logistics & supply chain.

SLOG Challenge 2021 is organized by the Faculty of Commerce of Van Lang University on a national scale and is a playground for young people who want to learn deeply and develop in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. With many rounds of contests and useful thematic workshops, the program wishes to provide opportunities for young people to practice real-life interaction, exchange, learn and hone their foreign language skills and other necessary skills. Attracting more than 200 contestants, after 6 months of constant training and challenges, the SLOG Challenge Organizing Committee selected 16 excellent individuals to compete in the final round.

Speaking before the final, on behalf of the leadership of Van Lang University, Dr. Ngo Quang Trung - Vice President, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce shared: "In addition to improving the quality of training, Van Lang University always strives to build playgrounds to support students' comprehensive development, including skills required after graduation. I hope SLOG Challenge 2021 can inflame young people's passion for Logistics and Supply Chain Management. In the context of the growing Vietnamese economy in global integration, the role of Logistics is increasingly emphasized and attracts young talented people. At the same time, this is also the key to the economic growth of businesses and countries more broadly today.”

The final judges of the SLOG Challenge 2021 include:

● Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Head of Logistics and Supply Chain Management Department of Van Lang University;

● MSc. Nguyen Viet Tinh - Deputy Head of Logistics and Supply Chain Management Department of Van Lang University;

● Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nha - General Director of Tan Cang Human Resource Development Company Limited - STC;

● Mr. Tran Chi Dung - Head of training department of Vietnam Logistics Human Resources Development Association - VALOMA, President of Vietnam Aviation and Logistics Training School.

The Silver Sponsor of the contest, and also on the jury of the final night, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nha - General Director of Tan Cang Human Resource Development Company Limited - STC affirmed that today's businesses always focus on the task of developing human resources in the Logistics industry: “In parallel with the training goal, Tan Cang - STC expands cooperation development, consulting and training to support schools for Logistics competitions to help students believe that behind them, there is always the support of businesses. We highly appreciate the quality of the contest organized by the Faculty of Commerce of Van Lang University with strict criteria and attractive competing rounds."

Starting with the "START" round, the groups of candidates faced questions in English given by the Organizing Committee. Despite having some difficulty in language as well as limited time, the contestants still passed the first round spectacularly.

The "PROJECT PRESENTATION" round made the atmosphere even hotter with the theme "Sustainable development in Logistics and Supply Chain Management ''. With knowledge accumulated during research and study, along with creative thinking and deep reasoning ability, the candidates do not hesitate to provide analysis on potential problems in the production process, supply of businesses, thereby offering potential solutions for Suntory Pepsico, Heinkel, Tiki now Smart Logistics, Duy Anh Foods Export Co., Ltd, etc. In the quick question and answer session, all 4 participating teams confidently answered, clarified their views, and proved the reliability of the proposed solutions.

Stepping through the "Project presentation" round, 2 teams successfully persuaded the Jury about the feasibility of the project to officially enter the final round with the name "GOAL". In this round, the jury asked many unexpected situational questions, bringing two groups of contestants into the real and super hot issues in today's professions such as the headache of COOs, employers, children's activities, a factor promoting business sustainable development, etc. Thereby it reveals the ability to improvise quickly, the spirit of learning, tracking new problems, and knowledge in the field of Logistics.

After more than 3 hours, the contest ended with the final results:

First Prize (15,000,000 VND): TEAM 1

  • Cao Dang Phuc - RMIT University Vietnam;
  • Le Thi Ngoc Huyen - Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City;
  • Le Thanh Loi - Van Lang University;
  • Mai Thi Linh Ngan - National Economics University.

Second Prize (10,000,000 VND): TEAM 2

  • Le Phuong Ngoc Anh - International University;
  • Nguyen Nhat Anh Khoa - University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City;
  • Nguyen Dan Thi - Foreign Trade University, Campus II, Ho Chi Minh City;
  • Phuong Hong Ngoc - Hanoi University of Commerce

Third Prize (5,000,000 VND): TEAM 3

  • Pham Hoang Anh Nguyet - Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City;
  • Pham Thi Thu Huong - University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City.

Consolation Prize (2,000,000 VND): TEAM 4

  • Nguyen Van Nam - National Economics University;
