Three Graphic Design Students from VLU advanced to the Finals of Adobe Certified Associate World Championship 2021

(VLU, 30/9/2021) – On 26 September 2021, the elimination round of Adobe Certified Associate World Championship 2021 (ACAWC 2021) took place virtually and welcomed the five best contestants nationwide. Of whom, there were three Graphic Design students of Van Lang University.

Adobe Certified Associate World Championship is an annual competition started in 2013 by the Certiport - a leading provider of certification exam development (USA), to help the students display their talent in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign skills. The competition’s target audiences are students of the age of 13 to 22. Since it is an international contest, it has attracted hundreds of thousands of contestants from nearly 70 countries and territories annually.

In Vietnam, ACAWC is the most significant graphic design competition with a focus on Adobe software. The event first took place in 2018 under the organization of the Central HCM Youth Union in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs and IIG Vietnam. From its first run until now, Graphic Design students of Van Lang University always leave a strong impression in every occurrence.

After the intense national elimination round of ACAWC 2021, eight of ten Graphic Design students of Van Lang University achieved a score of 700/1000. They received an Adobe Certification signed by Adobe’s General Director and valid internationally. Incredibly, three Graphic Design students of Van Lang University had brilliantly made it to the top five of the National Competition – Leg A (universities and institutions Leg). Those students were:

  1. Nguyen Kim Luan – Course 23 (927/1,000 pts.)
  2. Phan Thuy Nhi – Course 24 (933/1,000 pts.)
  3. Phan Thuy Nhi – Course 24 (933/1,000 pts.)
  4. Le Ngoc Hai – Course 25 (908/1,000 pts.)

Following the vigorous elimination round, the National Finals for ACAWC 2021 took place on the morning of 26 September 2021 with the theme of “Vietnam’s Youth joins hand to fighting against Covid-19 pandemic.” All contestants must complete their works virtually within eight hours.

During the whole competition, besides receiving supports from their supervisors – Mr. Phan Van Sang (alumnus of course 15) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhi (alumnus of course 21), those students also got recommendations from Ms. Dong Thi Phuong Uyen and Mr. Chieu Anh Long – lecturers of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design; and of course, the cheer of their classmates.

The three most excellent students of the National Finals of three legs A, B, and C, will become Vietnam’s representatives to compete at the World Finals taking place online in mid-November 2021.

Van Lang University’s students participated in ACAWC since its first occurrence in 2018 and achieved outstanding results, including five students receiving Adobe Photoshop certificate, four students receiving Adobe Illustrator certificate, and a National Finals’ runner-up prize for Cao Phuong Uyen (Integrative Design student.) In 2020, Nguyen Duc Hoang – Graphic Design student of course 23, had made it to the 14 most brilliant contestants to attend ACAWC 2020’s National Finals, became leg A’s champion (universities and institutions leg), and competed in the World Finals on behalf of Vietnam.
