In the first 45 minutes of the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan talked about the profession of a tour guide and answered questions about what French tourists like to hear from tour guides. Focusing on the middle-class group with the majority position, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan assessed that French tourists of this group would love to hear about the local history and culture, but not in a way that synthesizes historical developments. The tour guide should instead focus on talking about the events and things that exist in front of visitors, thereby skillfully integrating the historical and cultural details of the country associated with the objects. It is the simple things of everyday life that make French tourists more interested than ever. He also especially noted to young guides: “France and Vietnam have had a sensitive history, as a guide, we should provide accurate information, no comments should be included. You can get information from the published books of war correspondents of European countries."

Coming to the second part of the program, speaker Hoang Thanh Son shared many experiences for young people who are just starting their tour guide career on how to convey elements of culture, history, religion and customs for effective presentation to visitors. To be successful in the presentation, the guide must first know the expectations of French people and French tourists. According to speaker Hoang Thanh Son, besides some French people who love culture and history, are very curious and always want detailed explanations, there are also tourists who prefer to relax and enjoy the trip more. Therefore, it is important to identify the needs of the customer to know more or less about culture and history.

After identifying the needs of the tourist group, how can the guide satisfy the tourists who are eager to explain? Answering this question, speaker Hoang Thanh Son affirmed that reading is the key to success. Speaker Hoang Thanh Son introduced the young guides a number of useful books on history, culture, civilization and heritage such as: Vietnam through generations (Dao Duy Anh), Cultural identity Vietnam (Phan Ngoc), Vietnam with a history (Nguyen Khac Vien), À la découverte de la culture vietnamienne (Huu Ngoc)...

Also within the framework of the conference, Dr. Trinh Thi Thuy also gave attendees a lot of information about the French-Vietnamese dual degree program at Van Lang University, which received a lot of attention from young people.
