Van Lang University contributed 10 billion VND to the Covid-19 vaccination fund

(VLU, 06/6/2021) - On the evening of 05 June 2021, Covid-19 vaccine fund was introduced in Ha Noi with the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee. In the event, Van Lang University contributed 10 billion VND to the fund. Up until now, Van Lang University is the first Education Organization in Vietnam to donate a considerable amount to the fund, give away 2,000 MV20 ventilators and pioneer in the Vaccine fundraising campaign to prevent and fight against Covid-19 organized by the government.

According to the research studies, Vietnam will need approximately 150 million doses to vaccinate 75 million citizens with an estimated budget of above 25 trillion VND. Moreover, scientists forecasted that this pandemic will not end anytime soon, so “coming to terms” with the pandemic will be a daily thing because the effectiveness of the vaccine will not last long and people have to be vaccinated periodically. These tasks shall require an enormous budget.

Judging on the situation, on 26 May, the government decided to found the Covid-19 vaccination fund to help to take over, manage and liquidate the donations and resources both locally and internationally. This fund together with the national budget should facilitate the purchase, import and research for a Vietnam-made vaccine to vaccinate the people and maintain a solid budget for Covid-19 vaccination campaigns.

On the evening of 05 June, the launching ceremony for the Covid-19 vaccination fund was organized at Hanoi Opera House to encourage local and international individuals and organizations to join hands with the government by donating money and resources to accelerate the vaccination campaigns in Vietnam.
