(VLU - February 2, 2021) - On February 2, 2021, the Deputy Consulate General of the Laos PDR had visited, exchanged greetings, and discussed with the VLU's administrators just before the new year celebration to strengthen the bilateral cooperations between the two countries in general and with Van Lang University in particular.
The meeting welcomed the presence of the Deputy Consulate General of the Laos PDR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu – President of Van Lang University, Dr. Vo Van Tuan – Secretary of the Party Committee and Standing Vice President, Dr. Tran Anh Minh – Director of the Institute for Postgraduate Studies.
The meeting between the Deputy Consulate General of Laos PDR and VLU's Administrators took place on the afternoon of February 2, 2021.
The Deputy Consulate General of Laos PDR said that there are currently about 6,000 Laos students living and studying in central Vietnam, about 500 students are studying at universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam's similarities in culture and curriculum had attracted the interests and enrolments of many Laos students.
Having studied at Hue University of Education for a long time, the Deputy Consulate General of Laos shared about Laos students' studying and living experience while studying at universities in Vietnam.
During the meeting, Van Lang University and the Consulate of Laos PDR representatives also exchanged wishes; sharing about both parties' activities, cultural similarities, and the hope for the bonding partnership between the two countries through education policies, students exchange in the future.
Van Lang University expressed its interest in the Laos international student community with many suggestions on study transferring and study exchanges between the two countries in the future.
According to Dr. Tran Anh Minh, Van Lang University had welcomed many Laos students last year. Meanwhile, VLU also enthusiastically introduced many attractive scholarship policies for Lao students. Within the bilateral cooperating framework, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu expressed that Van Lang University aimed to develop short-term courses for cultural, linguistic, international experience exchange, which helped students decide to study long-term in Vietnam.
Deputy Consulate General of Laos presented the Tet gifts to Van Lang University.
Starting from 2020, Laos had introduced the Vietnamese language as a second language in the study curriculums. This would allow students to get acquainted with the Vietnamese language and culture and expand opportunities for exchange and learning links between the two countries in the near future.
