Van Lang University co-donated 500 MV20 ventilators to Ministry of Health (Vietnam) to fight Covid-19

(Van Lang, Aug 06, 2020) - On 5/8/2020, at the Vietnam Fatherland Front Office, Van Lang University and Van Thinh Phat Group donated 500 MV20 ventilators, which worth VND120 billion, to Vietnam Fatherland Front and Ministry of Health.

Responding to the Prime Minister's call, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Business Association District 1, Van Lang University, and Van Thinh Phat Group promoted 2,000 ventilators to support Covid-19 anti-epidemic campaign. As a result of phase 1, 500 Eliciae MV20 ventilators were donated to the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Ministry of Health to participate in Covid-19 epidemic prevention.

The donation is the project called MV20. The MV20 project has been implemented since February 2020 in collaboration with Japanese ventilator manufacturer Metran. The implementation has lasted for five months, including the stage of design, prototype production, clinical testing, professional evaluation before mass production.

Overcoming a series of difficulties in geography, social isolation, the closure of countries due to Covid-19, time, workforce, etc., the project has been completed and handed over in phase 1. The donation of 500 MV20 ventilators has officially been completed to the Vietnamese health sector to promptly cope with the current complicated progress of the COVID-19 epidemic.

At the event, the President of Vietnam Fatherland Front - Mr. Tran Thanh Man and Acting Minister of Health - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Long said that the MV20 ventilator is necessary for the stage of putting efforts into patients positive for Covid-19, supporting critical patients, invasive ventilation, Active treatment ICU, ECMO. The donation of 500 ventilators from Van Lang University, Van Thinh Phat Group, is formerly considered a noble, welcome, and commendable gesture in the prevention and control of the outbreak in Vietnam.

Dr. Nguyen Cao Tri - President of Van Lang University, representative of the sponsor, said: "Experts from Metran Japan, Van Lang University and Van Thinh Phat Group will transfer to the hospitals according to the proposal of the Ministry of Health, instructions on how to use, develop a plan to deal with ventilator problems on a large number of patients. The ventilator manufacturing company will also train the health workers on how to use the machine through video instructions. Therefore they can access it with a 24-hour hotline to promptly support doctors and medical staff using the ventilator Eliciae MV20".

Based on the results of clinical studies at Bach Mai Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital, the State Professional Council and the Management Agency of the Ministry of Health confirmed that the MV20 ventilator meets the production breathing apparatus in Vietnam and worldwide, the criterion for the COVID-19 epidemic prevention. On 27/7/2020, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 3335 / QD-BYT for the ELICIAE MV20 ventilator for COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control. On 30/7/2020, the Ministry of Health officially issued the Certificate of Sale (CFS) for the ventilator model ELICIAE MV20.
