In her speech for opening ceremony of CSoNet 2019, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu stated:

"CSoNet is an annual international conference of computational data and social networks, where scientists share and discuss the development trends and breakthroughs in the field of data, information technology and the media. With the participation of leading technology experts, CSoNet 2019 provides a multi-dimensional view at computational data and social networks in the future, clarifying the direction for Vietnam when using big data and social networks in the era of 4.0 technology revolution. The event also contributed to the cooperation among universities in the field of computer science and technology.

On behalf of Van Lang University, I would be delighted to welcome all the guests, scientists and colleagues who have attended this conference to share ideas and solutions through in-depth speeches and effective discussions. We hope that the CSoNet conference not only brings plans for exploiting the Big Data in the future and offers technological solutions, but also provides opportunities to learn, share the latest research results and connect with leading technology experts. For Van Lang University, today is also the beginning for us to start new projects related to (1) building the digital ecosystem of Van Lang University; and (2) researching and training in computer science".

vlu csonet2019 2Leadership of Van Lang University and Prof. Thai Tra My – representative of the CSoNet Steering Committee - gave “thank you” bouquets to scientists from universities around the world for attending the CSoNet 2019 International Conference, who have delivered valuable speeches: Prof . Raman Arora from Johns Hopkins University (USA); Prof. Francesco Bonchi - Representative of ISI Foundation; Prof. Rosa Benito from University of Politecnica de Madrid (Spain) and Prof. Sabrina Gaito from Università degli Studi di Milano.

In 3 days of the CSoNet Conference, there were three keynote speeches:

- "Distance-based community search" by Prof. Francesco Bonchi – representative of ISI Foundation.

- "Building Information Modeling as Digital Twin for Sustainable Design Optimization" by Dr. Le Hung Tien - Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Van Lang University

- “Computational Analysis of Interactomes: Challenges, Solutions, and Opportunities" by Prof. Tamer Kahveci - University of Florida (USA).

vlu csonet2019 3Prof. Francesco Bonchi - Representative of ISI Foundation - delivered the first speech with the topic of "Distance-based community search", in which he discussed how to identify a group of people in a terrorist network suspected of organizing cyber-security attacks.

vlu csonet2019 4As one of the main speakers of CSoNet 2019, Dr. Le Hung Tien - Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Van Lang University - gave the second speech of "Building Information Modeling as Digital Twin for Sustainable Design Optimization", in which he acknowledged the importance of BIM applications by stating that "BIM applications are based on a shared knowledge resource to optimize computational design, allowing designers to achieve optimal design with the help of information technology tools. Moreover, BIM implementation is 90% sociological while technology only plays a 10% role. Implementing computational data and project management for analyzing social networks helps project owners gain insights into activities of BIM group and predict ongoing trends.”

Besides the 3 keynote speeches, there were 5 lectures presented by guest speakers and 40 studies gathered in the conference document. All the research papers of the conference will be uploaded to the digital library of Computer Science and listed by ISI. In addition, high-quality papers will be selected for publications in the scientific journals: Combinatorial Optimization, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineer, and Computational Social Network.

vlu csonet2019 10A discussion session entitled "Next Big Thing in Big Data" was held on the last day of the Conference, November 20th, 2019.

vlu csonet2019 6In the general exchange session on November 20th, 2019, there were 04 presentations on the topic "Next Big Thing in Big Data" of 04 speakers: Pham Tran Vu - University of Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, Taekyoung Kwon - Seoul National University, Sabrina Gaito - Università degli Studi di Milano, and Ronaldo Menezes - University of Exeter.

The general exchange session "Next Big Thing in Big Data" has set out new directions in handling and using Big Data – a very large and complex data collection that traditional data processing applications do not handle. The session was led by the 04 speakers who are experts in the studies of Big Data.

  • Assoc. Dr. Pham Tran Vu is the Dean of Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Technology of Ho Chi Minh City. He is interested in developing and applying new techniques and tools from Big Data, IoT and distributed systems to solve practical problems in urban transport, smart cities, agriculture, etc.
  • Prof. Taekyoung Kwon from Seoul National University (SNU) expresses his research interests on decentralized Internet, including: blockchain, video streaming, data center networks, localization and online social networks.
  • Research activities of Prof. Sabrina Gaito from University of Milan take place in data and network science with a focus on social networking, human mobility and behaving. She is a member of the editorial boards of leading magazines such as PlosOne, Journal of Applied Network Science, and a co-organizer of conferences and seminars on complex network.
  • Prof. Ronaldo Menezes is the Head of the Computer Science Department at the University of Exeter and the Director of the BioComplex Laboratory. His research includes Network Science, Motivation and Human Mobility, Complex Systems and Urban Systems. He has been deeply involved in the research community on Mobile Science and the Network Science as a founding member of the steering committee of CompleNet and a board member of the NetSci Society and the American Complex Network Conference (LANET). He is also the co-editor-in-chief of one of "Applied Science Network" published by Springer Nature.

At the conclusion session of CSoNet International Conference 2019, scientists together with conference organizing committee and the leaders of Van Lang University continued to discuss the issue of building the digital ecosystem at Van Lang University, opening up the opportunity to apply big data and social networks in the era of technology 4.0 into the educational environment.

vlu csonet2019 5Dr. Nguyen Cao Tri - Vice Chairman of Van Lang University had a speech of Van Lang Digital Ecosystem. “The current goal of Van Lang University is to accelerate the plan to build a digital ecosystem with the purpose of creating a training environment with more practical opportunities for students and promoting vocational training. In the future, we will establish "Van Lang Science Park" - a convergence of innovative research for students as well as a place of collaboration and exchange for scientists. With many great challenges, this plan requires the support of a large pool of scientists. After the CSoNet International Conference 2019, I hope scientists will connect with Van Lang University to realize this digital transformation plan.

vlu csonet2019 7The Van Lang digital ecosystem has received a lot of attention and positive contributions from experts in the field of science and information technology.

After the resounding success of the impressive talkshow on AI - Blockchain taking place on November 1st, 2019 and then the perfect fulfilment of the role as the host of the CSoNet 2019 conference, lecturers and students of Van Lang University have the full confidence of a digital ecosystem in the near future. This system will give young technology scientists of Van Lang University and Vietnamese students the opportunity to learn and share their latest studies and connect with leading technology experts in the field of Big Data.
