Van Lang University has cooperated with a famous Australian Institute in advanced Tourism training

(Van Lang, December 4th, 2019) - From December 1st to 5th, 2019, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan made a courtesy visit and worked with Australian Government at the invitation of the Australian Government. During this visit, Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan focused on tourism development activities on December 2th, 2019. The Secretary attended the discussion on the Smart Cities project of University of New South Wales, visited the William Blue College of Hospitality Management and witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation between William Angliss Institute - Australia and Van Lang University - Vietnam.

Besides the representatives from Vietnamese Government agencies, there were also representatives from some businesses and tourism training universities. Mr. Nhan suggested that tourism agencies and universities of Ho Chi Minh City and Australia should discuss the possibility of cooperation, become partners, and develop the potential of tourism training.

During the visit, on December 4th, 2019, Van Lang University signed a cooperation agreement with William Angliss Institute - Australia on advanced Tourism training with the witness of Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan and representatives from the governments of the two countries. This is the oldest and largest tourism institution funded by Australian Government, which specializes in the fields of Hospitality, Tourism and Foods with a global scale.

Vlu has cooperated with a famous Australian Institute aUnder the witness of Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan and representatives of the governments from the two countries, Dr. Nguyen Cao Tri - Van Lang University's Vice Chairman of the Board signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of cooperation with Mr. Nicholas Hunt - William Angliss Institute's Chief Executive Officer.

The cooperation agreement between Van Lang University - Vietnam and William Angliss Institute - Australia focused on practical issues in the development of tourism training in Vietnam:

  1. William Angliss Institute assists Van Lang University's Faculty of Tourism in training lecturers, reviewing and improving the training program to fit with the current trends in tourism industry; at the same time, promotes exchange of lecturers and students between two schools in the field of Tourism and Hospitality.
  2. Two schools collaborate in organizing International Human Resources Conference for Vietnam’s Tourism Industry. This event is expected to form a basis for the training and increasing Vietnamese tourism workforce in the period of 2020 - 2025 in accordance with the Government's orientation. On that basis, the conference will also help Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to re-set Vietnam's tourism industry standards in the context of global development in the tourism industry and hosting the ASEAN in 2020.
  3. The two sides agree to establish the first Indochina Hospitality Management School with international standards, on a scale of up to 300 hotel rooms and Hospitality Management practicing areas, located at Campus 3 of Van Lang University. This will be the first high-class Hospitality management school in Vietnam which provides training for tourism human resources not only for Vietnam but also for the whole ASEAN.

With this agreement, Van Lang University's Faculty of Tourism will be one of the most attractive tourism training schools in Vietnam at present. Van Lang University's Faculty of Tourism is an active member of The Francophone University Agency (AUF), Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, with 100% lecturers who got their master and doctoral degree in France, Canada, Australia,... It is implementing 04 training programs to meet the diverse needs of students: Vietnamese mainstream program; Intensive English program; The Honor Training program helping students discover and position themselves, and the Two-degree Program in cooperation with Perpignan University (France).

Mr. David Hurley, Governor General of Australia, expressed his pleasure to welcome Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan and stressed that the Australian – Vietnamese relationship is at its best now. Mr. David Hurley also affirmed that Australia is expanding the cooperation and highly welcomes the cooperation proposal from Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan, including strategic cooperation orientations in the field of tourism.

Vlu has cooperated with a famous Australian Institute bCampus 3 of Van Lang University (69/68 Dang Thuy Tram, Ward 13, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) - an educational complex with international standards, is being accomplished and developed, and expected to be the place of tourism development and research in the coming period under the direction of the government.
