The University of New Zealand has a joint training program in Public Relations in Vietnam

(VLU, 15/11/2021) On October 27, 2021, Van Lang University and the University of Waikato (New Zealand) signed an MOU with the goal of building an associate degree program in Public Relations, opening up new opportunities for students of Van Lang. The first international cooperation program in Vietnam in Public Relations

In New Zealand's International Education Strategy 2018 - 2030, the main goal is to build a sustainable, diverse and flexible education. Accordingly, Education New Zealand - ENZ will focus on supporting the development of new education products and services, as well as continuing to improve and expand existing training programs through increased international cooperation.

In the spirit of strengthening international educational cooperation, on October 27, 2021, leaders of Van Lang University and the University of Waikato participated in the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement (MOU) online. Accordingly, representatives of the two universities have reached an agreement to launch a joint program of Bachelor of Public Relations between Van Lang University and the University of Waikato. This is considered the first international cooperation program of this discipline with the long-term goal of improving the quality of training, developing the student capacity of the discipline, and at the same time opening up more opportunities for Vietnamese students to come to study and experience in New Zealand.

2 + 2 Affiliate Program brings Vietnamese students to the prestigious Bachelor of Public Relations degree from the University of Waikato

According to the forecast of human resource demand in 2021 in Ho Chi Minh City, Information - Communication is one of the professions with high demand for human resources, accounting for 4.76% of the city's total human demand. Meanwhile, as of 2020, our country has 142 newspapers, 612 magazines, 25 independent electronic press agencies, 72 agencies licensed to operate broadcasting and television. The demand for human resources and the growth in the number of media organizations both show that: the field of Communication in general or the field of Public Relations in particular are looking for a large number of quality and qualified personnel, especially in today's digital age.

Accordingly, graduates from the Public Relations associate program will have a wide range of career development opportunities in this field. Especially when the Bachelor of Communication degree from the University of Waikato is the only communication degree in New Zealand to be certified by the Public Relations Association of America (PRSA). Moreover, the University of Waikato is also one of the top 200 universities in the world for Communication (QS World University Subject Rankings 2021). One of the outstanding alumni of the school is New Zealand Prime Minister, Ms. Jacinda Ardern. She graduated with a Bachelor of Communication, majoring in Public Relations from Waikato Management School.

Participating in the program, students will have the opportunity to study under the 2 + 2 model. Specifically, after completing the first 2 years of studying in Public Relations at Van Lang University, students will transfer to University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Business or a Bachelor of Communication program. At the end of the program, the degree will be awarded by the University of Waikato, as well as students who transfer at the University of Waikato will receive a preferential tuition fee.

Public Relations is the latest in a variety of disciplines under the joint program between New Zealand and Vietnam. Previously, there were 6 universities in New Zealand that have implemented joint training programs with many leading Vietnamese universities in major groups such as Pedagogy, Political Science, Data Systems, Science Food, Pharmaceutical, Digital Business and Supply Chain Management.
