VLU’s student represented Vietnam to participate in the World Graphic Design Championship (ACAWC) 2021 competition

(VLU, 30/10/2021) - On October 24, 2021, the ceremony to announce the national final results of the ACWC World Graphic Design Championship took place with the presence of Top 15 nationwide. Phan Thuy Nhi - a student of Course 24, majoring in Graphic Design at Van Lang University, has excellently become the champion of Group A, one of three representatives of Vietnam participating in the World Finals in November.

After 3 successful seasons, entering the 4th season, the World Graphic Design Championship - ACAWC 2021 marked a turning point of great change when it was first held in an online form. With the efforts of IIG Vietnam and the close direction of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (General Department of Vocational Education and Training), the contest has attracted the participation of students from all over the world with encouraging initial results: 82/140 candidates with over 700 points were awarded the international ACPro certificate, providing extensive study and work opportunities in the future.

Entering the final round, 15 of the best young creative talents nationwide participated in the design competition and presented a publication with the meaningful theme "Vietnamese youth join hands to fight Covid-19". The representative of VLU's team in Group A includes 3 students from the Graphic Design major who won important prizes: Nguyen Kim Luan – Course 23: third prize; Le Ngoc Hai – Course 25: Consolation prize. In particular, student Phan Thuy Nhi - course 24 excellently won the first prize. With this achievement, Thuy Nhi received a prize of VND 30,000,000, the badge of "Creative Youth", and became one of the three representatives of the Vietnamese team to attend the World Finals to compete with contestants from different countries and regions. This is the second year in a row that VLU has a student who won the ACAWC National Finals Champion award.

Sharing the meaning of the publication "Vietnamese youth, fighting against Covid", Thuy Nhi confided: "For this topic, I chose the image of a young man holding a book, smiling brightly behind a mask with the style of winning, evoking closeness, confidence and at the same time demonstrating the responsibility of protecting themselves of the young generation".

vlu do hoa ggThe publication with a harmonious layout, flexibility in arrangement, tagline that makes a strong impression on viewers, combined with the Vector set of 5K messages, helped Thuy Nhi achieve the first place.

After ACAWC 2021, Thuy Nhi also added many useful experiences and lessons: “This is my second time participating. Thanks to this contest, I am bolder, more confident, and have a lot of new knowledge about software. The final round is a challenge as well as an opportunity to help me know how to make a reasonable and scientific plan when allocating time between studying and reviewing."

Present at the final round, witnessing and experiencing moments of suspense with his students, Dr. Nguyen Dac Thai - Vice Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts & Design shared: “This is a great pride. In the training program at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design as well as the Graphic Design major of Van Lang University, the School's leadership and the Faculty's leadership oriented to put the international integration factor on top. VLU aims to train students after graduation to have the same qualifications as international friends. Faculty and students will continue to be determined to achieve the set goals for young people to develop and reach out to the world.”

In November, the World Finals will be held. Representatives of VLU for the 2020 and 2021 seasons including Nguyen Duc Hoang and Phan Thuy Nhi will attend with 4 other contestants of the Vietnamese team, competing for the First, Second, and Third prizes and cash prizes worth a few thousand USD. The Van Lang community congratulates the excellent achievements of the students of Fine Arts & Design Faculty, proud of the young talent of Van Lang today.


The Adobe Certified Associate World Championship (ACAWC) is a playground held annually since 2013 by the world's leading Informatics testing group Certiport (USA) for students to affirm their talent in using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Indesign software. The competition is for students from 13 to 22 years old with a global scale and attracts hundreds thousands of contestants from nearly 70 countries and territories to participate each year.

IIG Vietnam – The National Representative of Certport has been authorized to organize the contest in Vietnam since 2018. This is also the year Van Lang University has participated with the following achievements: 5 students obtained Adobe Photoshop certificates, 4 students Adobe Illustrator certified members; Student Cao Phuong Uyen (major in Interactive Media Graphics) won the second prize at the National Final Round. In 2020, student Nguyen Duc Hoang - Course 23 in Graphic Design became the Champion of Group A (university, academy). In 2021 is the name Phan Thuy Nhi. They will join 4 other contestants representing Vietnam to attend the world final round in mid-November.
