French - Vietnamese Dual Degree Program (Tourism Major)

Since 2009, the Faculty of Tourism of Van Lang University signed a joint program with Perpignan Via Domita University in France to train the French - Vietnamese dual degree program. After many years of training, the program has increasingly affirmed its prestige, attracted the attention of young people, and has an increasing number of students enrolled each year.

In 2021, on the basis recognition of the equivalence of training programs between the two institutions, Van Lang University continues to enroll students for the French-Vietnamese dual degree program for two majors:

* Hospitality Management

* Tourism and Travel Service Management

The University of Perpignan, having full name: Perpignan Via Domitia, was formerly the ancient university of Perpignan founded in 1349. After nearly 9 years as a Center for training & university research, in 1979, the school officially became an independent university. Being located in the Mediterranean region of France and close to the Pyrenees and Spain, the university has an ideal climate and is one of the oldest universities in France. Currently, the school has more than 11,000 students enrolled.

In 1997, Van Lang University became the first non-public university member of the Francophone community university (AUF). Since then, through cooperation programs with Toulouse le Mirail University, Ré Union University in France, UQAM University in Canada, the Faculty of Tourism has gradually built an international standard training program. Programs such as “Tourism Business Simulation” have become a hallmark of the University.

In 2009, Van Lang's tourism training program was officially recognized as equivalent to the program of Perpignan University, the two schools signed a cooperation program to train two degrees.

In 2010, the program started enrolling the first course, training in Hospitality Management and Tourism and Travel Service Management in two ​​French - Vietnamese languages. After completing 7 semesters at the Faculty of Tourism at Van Lang University and the last semester at the University of Perpignan in France, students will receive a Bachelor of Economics degree from Van Lang University and a Master 1 degree from Perpigan University that have international value. This is a convenient condition for students to register for further Master 2 in France, shortening the master's study time to 1 year.

The year of 2014 marked an important step of the French - Vietnamese dual degree program in Tourism majors at Van Lang that is 11 students graduated from the first course on October 1st , 2014.

In 2021: Up to now, the French-Vietnamese dual degree program at Van Lang has had nearly 200 students enrolled with the number of students registering increasing each year.

  1. Training program

Students will study for 4 years which are divided into 8 semesters and will receive a Bachelor's degree from Van Lang University and a Master 1 degree from Perpignan University with international value when completing the subjects according to the following schedule:

Study period at Van Lang University

  • Students study the first 7 semesters that is equivalent 3 and a half years at the Faculty of Tourism at Van Lang University.
  • The curriculum and teaching methods of the program follow the standards of Perpignan University with a class of 20-25 students.
  • tudents who do not know French or have studied in high school are encouraged to study French from the first year to ensure that the 3rd year is able to listen to specialized lectures in French.
  • In the second year, students will choose to study one of the following secondary languages such as English, Chinese, Japanese or Korean.
  • From the third year, specialized subjects will be taught entirely in French by professors from the Perginan University or masters and doctorates in Vietnam who are highly trained in France.

Study period at the Perpignan University

  • In the last semester, students will go to France to study the first year of Master Sectoriel program at the University of Perpignan with major in Tourism and Hospitality Management or Territorial Approach of Tourism Management. Students need to achieve a B2 level of French and have completed the previous 7 semesters of credits before entering this semester.
  • Fourth-year students attending a semester in France will perform a good thesis defense in French with the guidance of one lecturer from Van Lang University and one lecturer from Perpignan University to complete the program. This is a favorable condition for students to register for further Master 2 in France, shortening the master's study time to 1 year.

2. How to become a student of the French-Vietnamese dual degree program

The candidates need to register for admission to the regular university level, majoring in Hospitallity Management and Tourism and Travel Service Management of Van Lang University.

  • A01: Math – Physics - English
  • D01: Math – Literature - English
  • D03: Math – Literature - French
Enrollment method:
  • Method 1: Examining the results of the 2021 high school graduation exam
  • Method 2: Examining the results of High School transcripts (Study transcripts)
  • Method 3: Examining the results of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's Competence Assessment
  • Method 4: Direct admission
