The complete work after 1 week at IIDC 2019 would be a product which was consistent with the theme and all about a smart and sustainable city. Products were evaluated in terms of design and function which were in the form of entities or computer mock-ups and presented to the IIDC Council on the last day of the event.

Led by Professor Bora Shin, the C3 team put themselves in the shoes of a mother by creating a detailed user activity map.

Then, Hoang Anh's team came up with the sketches for the BABOOM smartband product with outstanding features:

  • Monitors your heart beat to check baby's health anytime, anywhere.
  • Displays newborn’s sleep cycle on the Baboom app.
  • Plays an alarm immediately when a baby needs care.

LIGHT HOUSE – We will save you!

With the theme "Urban Nomad", Le Thi Minh Thy's team must find a way to ensure safety for immigrants. Gosiwon - a housing area with many rooms for rent was selected to survey. The rooms here were very small and only used for sleeping. The team decided on the idea of an alarm light with heat-induction software that could create a virtual circle on the wall. When in danger, people just need to touch the circle, the alarm system will notify the landlord and alert neighbors through the phone App.

IIDC 2019 connected many international students in design disciplines, which was not only an ideal learning environment to promote artistic talents but also a playground for students to exchange culture and identity from different parts of the world. The experience of Hoang Anh and Minh Thy at IIDC 2019 is a great motivation for Van Lang students to try and learn foreign languages and access valuable learning opportunities.

Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts - Van Lang University has cooperated with Korean design schools for many years. On that basis, the Faculty always focuses on looking for valuable opportunities for students to experience, from exhibitions, workshops, exchanges, contests and awards.
